COFFEE + COMMUNITY

What started as a passion-project, became a drive to serve and connect with my local community with specialty coffee.

In 2023, after three years at Sjaak’s Chocolates, I was let go when the company closed its chapter as a small business. While searching for new opportunities as a designer, I realized how much I missed creating content. That’s when I decided to launch a social media page to share my love for coffee and video creation.

During my visit to Japan in early 2022, I was deeply inspired by the slow-living lifestyle and café culture. I couldn’t help but wonder—does something like this exist in San Diego?

A year later, after losing my job and diving into content creation, it all clicked: What if I started making coffee for friends and family? That small idea eventually grew into something bigger—serving the community in 2024

I immersed myself in learning the craft of coffee, both through self-teaching and guidance from experienced baristas.

Community is at the heart of everything I do. Creating a welcoming space where people can connect and feel at home is my passion. That’s what Kaphé Muna and ELLYZADAWN stand for.

This journey is still unfolding, and I’m excited to see where it leads.
